Scholarship Fund Details
Over the 5 years since its inception, the Scholarship Fund has paid out over $7000 to deserving graduates of WHS who have demonstrated leadership skills and community service. It has been a treat to watch as these young students progress through their college years and begin their careers, helped in some small part by this fund.
The scholarship was established from inheritance by the children of Andy and
Dolores, and the administration of it has been completely a volunteer effort.
The response to this, in terms of both donor support and the volume of applicants
each year, has been an honor. Donations from the community, which represent
over one tenth of the value of the fund, are gratefully acknowledged. We are
delighted to have received almost 40 applications in total, but regret that
there were limited funds such that only a select few were able to be offered
assistance for their college costs.
Thanks to all that have participated in this effort. It has truly been a testament
to small town values and a tribute to the Windthorst community in particular.
